The Sr. Business Development Analyst/Communications Specialist serves as the expert on the State client's member communications requirements, acting as a liaison between operational staff, marketing, and the client to ensure effective communication strategies and deliverables related to pharmacy benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understanding the primary business objectives of the client to communicate and assist marketing with communications that demonstrate program value.
  • Support Marketing with ensuring open enrollment materials are completed on time.
  • Responsible for the coordination of Health Benefit fairs.
  • Collaborate with the Client regarding future plan design changes, including working with the Marketing Team to coordinate focus groups, gather market strategy information, and conduct surveys.
  • Work with the client to understand their needs regarding benefit competitive analysis and lead the completion of these activities.
  • Provide regular input to the Account Manager and operational areas regarding client benefit structure and requirements.
  • Assist with the development, review, and approval of all benefit-related Customer Service documentation to ensure accuracy.
  • Participate in client-specific benefit design training with Call Center Staff when necessary.
  • Understand OptumRx product and service offerings and articulate their operational, clinical, and financial value to the client.
  • Maintain consistent and regular communication with the client, responding to inquiries within specified timeframes.
  • Present formal presentations to stakeholders.
  • Respond to all electronic, phone, facsimile, or letter inquiries from the client and their staff within the designated timeframes.
  • Attend and actively participate in company meetings as requested.
  • Exhibit compliant and ethical behavior, including adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Participate in OptumRx's Compliance and Ethics Program, including attending training and reporting violations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet corporate objectives.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of consultative pharmacy benefit experience with an understanding of pharmacy benefit strategies and pricing practices.
  • 2+ years of experience presenting to large group settings.
  • Experience developing communication materials such as PowerPoint decks and member communications.
  • Experience solving practical issues with limited standardization.
  • Project management and organizational skills to coordinate client deliverables.
  • Experience handling and resolving complex client issues.
  • Experience developing client relationships with attention to service.
  • Willing or able to travel up to 25% of the time by car and airplane.

Nice to Have

  • Experience interfacing with client account leadership at the C level in healthcare or managed care.
  • Formulary knowledge.
  • Proficient knowledge of Medicare Part D Employer Group Waiver Plans.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office Tools.
