Senior Data Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Own the attribution mapping details for data elements from source systems to target data assets and Finance and Regulatory Reporting specific data solutions including data marts, integration layer, extracts, hierarchies, and point-to-point solutions to support Data Supply Chain assets.
• Provide data mapping details on attributes required, including how source system data will be transformed and stored in the target destination, leveraging metadata for source system data insights.
• Provide all business rules, transformation logic, derived column expressions, SQL, etc., to build mapping documents.
• Translate business requirements into detailed mapping documents, develop and unit test datasets by building maintainable code to accelerate delivery through reusability.
• Influence and collaborate with Data Architects, Developers, and Enterprise Testers to drive design, development, and testing based on given requirements.
• Engage with Lines of Business, including Business Analysts and Subject Matter Experts, to ensure business requirements are clear, concise, and vetted, translating those into technical mapping documents.
• Perform peer code reviews and contribute to Mapping and Data Architecture Review Sessions.
• Provide status updates and estimates of work to Project Managers and Management.
• Mentor and provide training for less experienced business and data analysts.
• Contribute to data models and Entity Relationship Diagrams, using these to build efficient SQL.
• Assess the technical viability of new and emerging data solutions, providing design guidance, technical recommendations, performance optimization, and development insights.
• Contribute to technical documentation, specifications, and project artifacts for data solutions.
• Adhere to and identify standards and best practices within the Data Solutions Center (DSC).
• Create and enhance context diagrams for data solutions to maintain auditability.
• Gain knowledge of portfolio planning, project prioritization, and remediation activities.
• Apply strong knowledge of Risk Management practices related to Financial Institutions and financial data.

Requirements

• 8+ years of data analytics experience or equivalent military/work experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, notably BigQuery.
• Programming experience in Python, SAS, and SQL.
• Experience with AbInitio or AbInitio SpecToGraph.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, Jira, and Confluence.
• Extensive experience analyzing and interpreting business data, leveraging techniques including automation for data quality validations.
• Possession of a Master's Degree with 5+ years of data analytics experience or a Bachelor's degree with relevant experience.

• Experience in data modeling and metadata management.
• Knowledge of data pipeline development and enterprise data architecture.
• Familiarity with financial data and risk management practices.
