About the Role

The Senior Data Scientist is a subject matter expert who leverages data science and knowledge of health care data to develop data-driven solutions focused on improving healthcare. This role involves building predictive models, experimental designs, machine learning algorithms, and supporting analytical publications to support the Institute for Human Caring initiatives. The position requires collaboration with data developers, solution architects, and clinical subject matter experts throughout the project lifecycle, including designing data solutions, testing, validation, and deployment in an Azure cloud environment. The Senior Data Scientist engages with stakeholders on health data related to health outcomes, clinical performance, behavioral health, social determinants, disparities of care, utilization, cost, and population management. The role also includes mentoring junior staff and working within a patient-focused, whole-person care culture.

Key Responsibilities

Leverage data science and healthcare data to develop data-driven solutions aimed at improving healthcare outcomes.
Build predictive models, experimental designs, and machine learning algorithms using advanced technologies.
Assist with dashboard creation and analytical publications to support healthcare initiatives.
Work closely with data developers, solution architects, and clinical subject matter experts throughout the project lifecycle.
Design data solutions, conduct testing, perform clinical and ethical validations, and oversee roll-out in an Azure cloud environment.
Harvest insights from complex data sources and engage stakeholders in reviewing health data including health outcomes, clinical performance, behavioral health, social determinants, disparities of care, utilization, cost, and population management.
Serve as a mentor and coach for junior staff to develop their skills.

Requirements

Master's Degree in Healthcare, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Business, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent education and work experience.
Six or more years of relevant data analysis or analytics experience.
Six or more years of experience with big data, database query and analysis languages such as Python, SQL, Snowflake SQL, R, Scala, SAS, Azure Data Bricks.
Six or more years of applying advanced statistical concepts, machine learning techniques, forecasting, and other methods to solve complex problems using structured and unstructured data.

Nice to Have

Experience working in healthcare data environments.
Knowledge of Azure cloud services and deployment.
Experience mentoring or coaching junior staff.

Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience.
