Job Description

About the Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Information Security Engineer within the Information Security Architecture team. The Senior Engineer will be part of a team that performs cryptographic evaluations and certifications of data protection technologies, along with information protection architecture responsibilities. The role involves engaging stakeholders, subject matter experts, vendors, and management teams for evaluation, analysis, reporting, and summarizing data evaluations of hardware security modules (HSM) and key/certifications management. The engineer will perform lab analysis, evaluations in Linux Server operating systems, hardware security modules, key managers, and data protection/encryption solutions. They will develop technical documentation, design and develop scripting and automation practices, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure security and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the cryptographic capabilities of multiple data protection technologies deployed across Wells Fargo networks, applications, public key infrastructure, and authentication services.
  • Evaluate scripts written in various languages utilizing best practices and procedures for automation.
  • Perform deep-dive evaluations of encryption and other data protection technologies.
  • Create technical and engineering documentation and communicate effectively in written and oral formats.
  • Participate in research, analysis, design, testing, and implementation of complex data protection technologies with internal teams.
  • Engage with encryption technology vendors to ensure product engineering aligns with Wells Fargo's security objectives.
  • Work with partner engineering teams on identification and remediation of security vulnerabilities and conduct risk assessments to ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced staff and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Information Security Engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 2+ years of experience with Linux operating system engineering or automation.
  • 2+ years of experience with or strong conceptual understanding of encryption or related data protection technologies.
  • 2+ years of experience with security technology product evaluation, proof of concepts, and testing.

Nice to Have

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills with both business/management and technical/engineering resources.
  • Experience with security technology product evaluation, proof of concepts, and testing.
  • Understanding of architectural, deployment, and integration concepts related to enterprise cryptographic products.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology servers: file encryption technology, encryption key management, and information security policies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cryptography and key management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of encryption, hashing, data protection algorithms, and key management concepts.
  • Knowledge of programming or scripting languages.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Key Management lifecycle.
  • Experience with evaluating symmetric/asymmetric algorithms.
