Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Principal Strategic Research Analyst, Market Analytics supports Market Regulation regulatory strategic activities by providing business management and knowledge discovery across all phases of surveillance strategic and analytical development. The role involves designing and implementing complex data-driven solutions related to high-value regulatory matters, working closely with senior department staff, and utilizing advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to generate insights that improve surveillance programs and inform strategic decisions within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and/or lead efforts in the strategic design of quantitative multi-market and multi-product investigatory solutions for processing output and referrals resulting from market manipulation and market conduct rule violations leveraging large volumes of multi-domain data.
  • Provide clear and concise written and visual artifacts supporting analysis performed to senior MRD personnel.
  • Participate in and/or lead efforts in the enhancements and evolution of the MRD's surveillance investigatory program in response to market trends and developments.
  • Provide efficient quantitative support for market studies, examinations, and ongoing investigations.
  • Identify areas and problems within the MRD business domains that can be solved with Machine Learning solutions.
  • Assist in performing regulatory impact assessments of industry initiatives on MRD's Cross-Market and SRO-specific programs.
  • Adapt MRD's investigatory, referral, and examination programs to new rules and initiatives.
  • Support management and others in informing internal and external stakeholders on program vision, strategy, operations, and implementation status.
  • Support the execution of the team’s programs in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Participate in and/or lead efforts in ad hoc special projects and national initiatives, as requested.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Business, with a minimum of eight years of experience in the field, including at least four years of machine learning experience.
  • Strong statistical and software engineering skills with substantial experience analyzing large datasets in an efficient and scalable manner.
  • Experience in designing and implementing data-driven solutions using highly specialized statistical techniques and machine learning approaches.
  • Ability to work independently and propose scalable technical solution frameworks for multi-domain data analysis.
  • Experience working with multi-terabyte distributed datasets and generating insights from them.
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills for presenting analysis results to senior personnel.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight years of experience in the field with a relevant degree or substitution.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, software engineering, and large-scale data analysis.
  • Experience in machine learning applications relevant to regulatory and surveillance functions.
