About the Role

The Senior Product Manager at Orthofix is responsible for managing the marketing of specified product franchises within the medical device sector, particularly in spinal implants. The role involves establishing long-term product strategies, developing and executing marketing plans, coordinating product launches, and achieving business performance targets. The position supports collaboration across departments and may include management of other marketing employees. Key Responsibilities

  • Create strategic business plans that include market analysis, portfolio roadmap, product positioning, product lifecycle planning, financial and sales projections, and commercialization strategies.
  • Manage upstream product development marketing activities such as surgeon design team management, product definition, pre-clinical and clinical evaluation/validation, budgeting, forecasting, and inventory planning.
  • Collaborate with all departments to drive new products from development to launch.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of multiple product lines.
  • Analyze technical, financial, schedule, and sales information.
  • Provide product technical, clinical, and selling support to the sales force and participate in key sales activities.
  • Manage product launches and downstream product management, including developing sales support collateral, targeting and prioritizing customers and distributors, communicating with the sales team, leading marketing campaigns, and educating surgeons and sales representatives.
  • Build strong partnerships with sales management, sales reps, supply chain, operations, product development, quality, regulatory, etc., to ensure alignment on priorities and objectives.
  • Identify continuous process improvement opportunities to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Participate in global activities not to exceed 15% of job function.
  • May include management of other marketing employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related product marketing experience in medical devices; operating room experience is preferred.
  • Experience effectively leading or mentoring marketing colleagues.
  • Experience working with KOLs and distribution to identify product requirements.
  • Proven experience in creating and implementing comprehensive marketing plans with multiple stakeholders.
  • Track record of managing successful product launches with compelling positioning and messaging.
  • Performed quantitative analysis to guide strategy and decision-making.
  • Effective in customer-facing situations such as design meetings, labs, tradeshows, sales calls, and customer education.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external customers, including surgeons, executives, sales reps, and vendors.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems with limited information in a timely manner.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in various formats.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, flow charting, graphs, and internet navigation.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs safely.

Nice to Have

  • MBA or equivalent.
  • Spine experience strongly preferred.
  • Medical device sales experience.
  • Experience working with a best-in-class repeatable marketing methodology.
  • Oracle experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, engineering, or related discipline.

Benefits & Perks

  • Salary range of $130,000 to $160,000 per year (for California employees), plus bonus and benefits.
