About the Role

The Senior QA Automation Engineer - Networking role is part of the Customer Validation Testing (CVT) team at Cisco, which develops solutions powering large networks worldwide. The team collaborates on qualification and automation of influential technologies, XR platforms, and deployment solutions for high-end Cisco Web and Service Provider customers. The role involves designing, automating, and qualifying customer use cases on IOS-XR platforms, working with diverse teams, and contributing to innovative test frameworks and tools in a global environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, automate, configure, and qualify customer use cases based on IOS XR platforms such as ASR9K, NCS5500, and 8000.
Generate test plans and dynamically prioritize tasks based on customer demands, maximizing technical expertise and skills.
Design and develop innovative test frameworks and tools to support the test execution environment, including web-based GUIs that utilize analytics and machine learning to display and analyze results.
Drive test cases both manually and through automation, raise, track, prioritize, and verify defects and fixes.
Proactively seek continuous improvements in test coverage, execution, and automation, optimizing performance and configuration dimensioning.
Reproduce customer issues in internal test labs as requested by the customer support team and generate test execution reports.
Collaborate with development, account teams, and customers to understand and validate customer use cases.

Requirements

Bachelor's in STEM with 7+ years of relevant experience or Master's in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience.
3+ years of programming experience with Python, Go, Java, C, or C++.
Networking domain experience working with L2 or L3 networking protocols such as ISIS, BGP, MPLS, IPv6, GRE, MPLS-TE, LDP, RSVP, Segment routing, L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN.
Experience in networking automation or software quality assurance.

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience with GIT, Jira, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipeline tools.
Industry certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, or Cisco DevNet.
Experience with network automation frameworks like pyATS, Pytest, Ansible, and Robot.
Experience with network monitoring tools like Grafana, Telegraf, Elasticsearch, and InfluxDB.
Experience working with traffic generators like Ixia and Spirent.
Experience in network programmability using gNMI, gRPC, NETCONF, YANG, REST APIs, RPC.
Strong Linux experience, including virtualization and containerization technologies such as KVM, VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience with AI and machine learning.
Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS/IOS-XR platforms.
