About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Advance computer vision capabilities and artificial perception by fusing multi-modal sensing systems.
• Connect sensing modalities with State-of-the-Art algorithms to enable vision-based planning, perception, manipulation, and human-robot interaction.
• Invent and implement prototypes, solutions, and demonstrate computer vision applications to real-world problems through quick prototyping and validation.
• Work directly with GE Vernova Advanced Research senior leadership and technology managers to shape technical vision and lead organizational strategy for computer vision.
• Foster and grow relationships with colleagues across technical and business functions, coaching and developing technologists.
• Identify, shape, and drive collaborative relationships with academic institutions, national laboratories, industry, government agencies, and GE experts to leverage internal capabilities and increase impact.
• Deliver presentations, reports, and publications to leadership, business units, government agencies, professional societies, and peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline with 5+ years of work experience in the field.
• Proven record of innovation, including peer-reviewed publications, in computer vision or sensing.
• Demonstrated project execution experience and ability to work across functions and levels as part of a team.
• Experience in systems architecture, design, and system integration.
• Hands-on programming experience with C/C++/Python.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Willingness to work out of the Niskayuna, NY office.
• Must be 18 years or older.

• Experience developing patentable intellectual property.
• Experience transitioning products from R&D to manufacturing.
• Experience with Six Sigma methodology, specifically DoE's and Gage R&R.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience.
