About the Role

In this role, you will utilize your knowledge of web backend programming in Java to extend the functionality, lead development and refactoring, and support operation. We expect 50% individual contribution and 50% leadership through design review and operational work. The Zoom application team performs end-to-end backend server and frontend application development for Zoom Whiteboard, Notes, and Tasks. Our team is looking to bring on a hands-on backend software engineer with system-level thinking.

Key Responsibilities

Leading the design, development, and deployment of microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
Developing scalable, secure RESTful APIs using Spring MVC and related technologies.
Guiding performance tuning, monitoring, and observability of Spring-based services.
Collaborating with design and product partners to build core product features meeting security, privacy, and business requirements.
Working with the operation teams to ensure your applications and services are highly available and reliable.

Requirements

8 years of experience with a BS Degree in Computer Science or related field.
5+ years of experience developing backend systems in Java, with significant experience in Spring Boot and related Spring modules.
Demonstrate expertise in Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data, and REST API design.
Possess experience in database design, query optimization, and data modeling for both SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) databases.
Possess experience in event-driven architecture and tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Have understanding of CI/CD, containerization, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Mentorship of junior engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Significant experience in Java backend development and Spring framework.
