Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to advancing Live, Virtual, and Constructive training environments for the Army by leading small, cross-functional teams in the design, development, and implementation of impactful training solutions within your area of expertise, ensuring alignment with Army training goals to enhance warfighter readiness.
  • Translate requirements into mission-ready software by acting as a Product Owner, gathering critical requirements from stakeholders including government end users, integrators, and capability vendors, and translating these into actionable user stories and a prioritized product backlog.
  • Develop secure and reliable software by designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications and components in a DevSecOps environment, adhering to industry and DoD standards for development and security.
  • Collaborate across the training environment by working closely with domain subject matter experts, integrators, program managers, and capability vendors to ensure seamless integration and successful delivery of solutions that meet mission requirements.
  • Influence the technical direction of critical programs by participating in technical discussions and architectural decisions, and by contributing to future solutioning and product strategy based on mission operations onsite.
  • Mentor and develop future leaders by providing strong technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Ensure code quality and security through rigorous code reviews, providing feedback, and enforcing coding standards and best practices to ensure software reliability and integrity.
  • Stay at the forefront of technology by exploring emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices within your specialization and the DoD software landscape, applying this knowledge to drive innovation.
  • Champion Agile Scrum development by coaching the team and ensuring adherence to Scrum principles and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in software development, with significant focus in one of the following areas: Modeling & Simulation, 3D Data Visualization, or System Integration.
  • Experience with M&S platforms, tools (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, AFSIM), and methodologies, including testing and integration.
  • Expertise with GIS web applications (Cesium, STK, ArcGIS) and data visualization techniques.
  • Strong background in planning, performing, and testing system integrations via public APIs (RESTful, ASP.NET) or C#/C++ assemblies/DLLs.
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience in a leadership role within an Agile Scrum environment, especially as Scrum Master or Product Owner.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of software development methodologies, design patterns, and best practices, including in DevSecOps environments.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including DoD personnel.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and project management tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10%, including international travel.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Industry-recognized Agile certification (e.g., CSM, CSPO).
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or GovCloud.
  • Experience with Digital Engineering and using digital models and data to design, build, test, and operate complex systems.
  • Experience with 3D game development (Unity, C#) and data visualization.
  • Domain-specific knowledge relevant to Live, Virtual, and Constructive training environments.
  • Domain-specific knowledge relevant to Space and Missile Defense (e.g., satellite systems, missile tracking, command and control).
  • Experience working within the DoD.
