Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Help set the direction of the design and development of the systems powering the Vivid Seats Marketplace and Third-Party Marketplaces.
• Lead and mentor small teams of engineers to develop innovative solutions that give Vivid Seats a competitive advantage, encourage team members, and champion technology improvements for your delivery team.
• Work cross-functionally in Agile development teams that deploy to AWS production environments multiple times a day.
• Tackle challenging scaling issues in an e-commerce marketplace by developing creative algorithms and features to maximize value and efficiency.
• Partner with Product Owners, Quality, Data, and Platform Engineers to deliver high-quality software and showcase work at the end of each cycle.
• Implement best practices in design patterns, code quality, testing, and innovation to prioritize customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Experience developing web-based, distributed, and multi-tier architecture using Java or other major platforms such as Python or React.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and experience building, testing, and maintaining robust REST-based web services, with knowledge of Spring, REST, SOA, and OAuth.
• Experience with modern front-end technologies such as JavaScript, React, and Single Page Application frameworks and their API interactions.
• Experience with cloud-based architectures, preferably AWS.
• Experience with distributed messaging systems like Apache Kafka, AWS SNS, and SQS for scalable, event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS EKS.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions to automate build, test, and deployment pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database modeling with RDS Aurora MySQL, and some knowledge of MongoDB or object-oriented databases.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into high-level architectural designs and act as a subject matter expert.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional Agile teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI, ML, LLMs in a production environment.
• Experience working in a fully cloud-native AWS environment.
• Familiarity with international multi-currency enablement and automated event creation and listing mapping.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience developing web-based, distributed, and multi-tier architectures using Java or similar platforms.
• Experience with RESTful API design and cloud-based architectures, preferably AWS.
• Proficiency with front-end frameworks like React and JavaScript.
• Experience with containerization, orchestration, and CI/CD tools.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
