Walmart's Feedback platform is a full-stack Generative AI team within the People function, dedicated to empowering over 2.2 million associates globally through AI-driven solutions that enhance productivity, well-being, and a sense of belonging. The team builds advanced systems such as a RAG-based knowledge Q&A tool, agentic HR automation interfaces, and text-to-SQL analytics to streamline access to information and actions. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive observability, automation, and scalability across these systems, leveraging expertise in Python, cloud platforms, distributed systems, and MLOps to deliver robust, personalized, and scalable experiences that support Walmart's evolving workforce needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Software Engineers to develop innovative solutions.
  • Develop Scalable and Personalized Experiences utilizing product requirements, GenAI technology stack, and software architecture.
  • Partner with Feedback platform product and business leaders to ensure alignment and integration of ML solutions into existing systems.
  • Work with product, science, and peer engineering teams to bring products to life.
  • Manage Software Development Dependencies by working with product, science, information security, and peer engineering teams to identify and manage dependencies effectively.
  • Anticipate and Mitigate Risks in the software development lifecycle and implement strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Integrate Testing and Maintenance by implementing robust testing frameworks and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges.
  • Leverage or build cloud-based architectures, technologies, and platforms to deliver optimized ML models at scale.
  • Implement Model MLOps Best Practices, including CI/CD, test automation, automated deployments, model retraining, and monitoring.
  • Stay Updated on the latest techniques in machine learning applications/models and foster a culture of continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of Python and its principles, with the ability to apply them effectively; some use of JavaScript.
  • Experience in leading architecture design.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in building scalable, distributed end-to-end machine learning pipelines and services.
  • Highly skilled in API Design, scaling applications, distributed systems, Python (ML, APIs, workflows), Cloud Platforms (Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, Kafka, Airflow, and SQL.
  • Strong foundation in software engineering/API design fundamentals, with the ability to write production code when needed.
  • A passion for GenAI, MLOps, and cloud technologies, and a desire to stay current with advancements in the field.

Nice to Have

  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and supporting an inclusive culture.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.
  • 1 year of experience in software engineering or related area with a master's degree.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in relevant field and 1 year's experience.
