Job Description

About the Role

This is an onsite role based in San Jose, CA, within Cisco's Silicon One team, which focuses on ASIC design and next-generation network devices for the AI/ML era. The team operates in a startup atmosphere within a stable, leading corporate environment, developing innovative silicon products for open standards, open networking, and scalable cloud data centers. The role involves working closely with internal engineering teams and external partners to develop and debug Cisco's Silicon One software, contributing to infrastructure products, and supporting customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, and debug Cisco's next-generation Silicon One software.
  • Interact and work closely with Cisco system product development teams to develop and debug datapath applications.
  • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and customers to develop, debug, and support Silicon One software.
  • Drive system integration and testing across hardware and software components.
  • Work on networking protocols for switch/router and infrastructure products.
  • Modify and add new software enhancements.
  • Contribute to testing and debugging to ensure system quality.
  • Translate ASIC architecture knowledge to product development teams.
  • Provide guidance and support, including documentation, for Silicon One customers.
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation infrastructure products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in EE/CE with 7+ years of related experience or Master of Science in EE/CE with 4+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in software development and integration using C++ and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with L2 switching, networking, platform solutions, and network topologies.
  • Experience developing and debugging in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with system-wide development, testing, and debugging.

Nice to Have

  • Working knowledge of GDB/PDB and debugging application and kernel drivers.
  • Expertise in forwarding protocols (bridges/routers).
  • Experience with traffic generators such as IXIA or Spirent.
  • Experience with High Speed Serdes, MAC ports, and PRBS.
  • Experience working with ANLT analyzers.
