About the Role

The Cisco's AI team consists of AI researchers and software developers who collaborate to build innovative products and platforms for Cisco. We are motivated by tackling unique challenges that arise when connecting people and devices at a worldwide scale. As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team developing common services for the AI Assistant platform, working closely with cross-functional teams to architect, design, and maintain software that powers Cisco's AI Assistants with Gen AI capabilities. You will influence the team’s culture and direction, foster a culture of quality, teamwork, and inclusiveness, and drive platform adoption and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the team that develops common services for the AI Assistant platform.
  • Collaborate with senior back-end engineers, UI engineers, product managers, and SRE engineers to architect, design, and maintain software.
  • Drive architecture discussions and bring technical alignment across teams.
  • Monitor KPIs, define relevant metrics, and drive platform adoption.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in AI/ML and incorporate relevant innovations.
  • Mentor engineers and support their professional growth.
  • Partner with Product Management and Product Engineering teams.
  • Grow the team, retain talent, and provide technical direction and career development opportunities.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience on projects involving planning and coordination.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in building distributed backend systems.
  • Hands-on experience in programming languages such as Go, Python, etc.
  • Ability to implement efficient database design in a relational database.
  • Experience working in an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
  • Knowledge of AI Assistants and AI Agent frameworks is a bonus.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors and contractors.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, and Jenkins.
