About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineering Supervisor here at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team of software engineers to deliver innovative software solutions. You will be responsible for overseeing the development process, ensuring high-quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the team. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Mason, Ohio or Atlanta, GA location on a Hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our software development processes, ensuring that projects are completed on time and meet the strategic objectives of the organization. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Establish professional relationships and communications with customers, project managers, project engineering discipline leads.
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the SW engineer team and related administrative issues, to ensure that the projects are delivered effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align project priorities and allocate resources effectively.
  • Actively participate in project requirement analysis, design, implementation, and testing for the assigned project. Ensure 100% compliance to phase gate reviews and all deliverables are submitted to the customer on time. Participate in monthly project reviews with Project managers / Program managers.
  • Drive culture of customer centricity, change identification, change management, technical risk identification & mitigation, value engineering ideas, techniques & solutions are applied on the assigned projects.
  • Seek efficiencies in the project execution methodology to bring down cost and/or increase the value delivered to the customer. Develop and enhance the work processes and procedures as required.
  • Prepare and maintain work schedules, generate technical reports, correspondence, and minutes of meetings to control, document and convey information relating to assigned jobs and projects to leadership and customers.
  • Coordinate with engineering discipline leads & engineers through all phases of the project to ensure deliverables are met and complete.
  • Drive billability of the project group, monitor project cost forecast accuracy, and engineering hours & financials to ensure project completion within budget.
  • Ensure common methods, procedures, techniques, tools, and products are effectively applied and provide feedback for future improvement.
  • Perform root cause analysis on issues identified during the project life cycle, update and disseminate lessons learned within and across project teams.
  • Provide technical assistance to project team members during the project life cycle and proactively identify potential quality and efficiency improvements.
  • Collect customer feedback on various touch points of the project such as technical kick-offs, design reviews, trainings, and on-site services.
  • Ensure project teams work in compliance with quality and safety procedures, adhering to HSE Policy and Guidelines.
  • Assess skill gaps and technical countability of direct reports, support and evaluate team members at customer sites, and conduct biannual performance evaluations.
  • Lead staff meetings, provide coaching on IDPs, manage complex discussions, drive PIPs processes, and develop a pipeline for succession.
  • Participate actively in 1+ Improvement Initiatives or Pillars (Standardization, Training, Safety, etc).

Requirements

  • At least three years experience supervising or leading a technical team.
  • At least six years hands-on experience in distribution center or warehouse automation systems, including material handling, inventory management, and warehouse control systems.
  • Deep knowledge in C++, C#, and/or Java programming under Windows and/or Linux.
  • Deep knowledge in RDBMS, e.g., MS SQL, Postgres, or Oracle.
  • Knowledge in SVN (Subversion) and GitHub source control.
  • Experience with Profibus, Ethernet, EtherCAT is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to site for supervision and customer PR up to 30% of time.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related field.
  • Experience in leading software development projects and teams.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.

Qualifications

  • Experience in distribution center or warehouse automation systems.
  • Proficiency in C++, C#, Java, and RDBMS technologies.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.
