About the Role

The Data Architecture Lead at Dexcom Corporation will work closely with Manufacturing, R&D, and IT architect teams to establish and follow a consistent and effective data architecture approach based on Dexcom's data strategy, regulatory expectations, and leading practices. This role serves as the subject matter expert on data architecture topics, designing, developing, and implementing target-state enterprise data architecture, ensuring security around cloud and data sharing, and defining meta-model and metadata management requirements. The position involves supporting the data leader and maintaining a current view of the data environment to facilitate scalable and compliant data solutions in a global health technology company committed to improving human health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals for data architecture vision and standards in conjunction with data users, data teams, partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Work with data leader and architects to design and maintain target-state data architecture, and associated requirements; proactively share data architecture best practices and expectations across Dexcom.
  • Lead architecture design for data platform(s) including evaluations of vendor platforms for strategic fit.
  • Oversee the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics, with the goal of ensuring data quality.
  • Provide technical recommendations and engage Architects, Business SMEs, and other stakeholders throughout Data Architecture and implementation lifecycle and recommend effective solutions to develop scalable data solutions (data marts/warehouse and data mining and advanced analytics).
  • Address data-related problems in systems integration, compatibility, and multi-platform integration.
  • Work with data governance lead to drive a single version of the truth, increasing trust and usage of enterprise data across Dexcom.
  • Document data architecture and environments to maintain an accurate view of the larger data picture.
  • Ensure data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Data Architecture, Data Strategy, and Roadmap for large and complex organizations and systems, with experience in implementing large-scale end-to-end Data Management & Analytics solutions.
  • Drive delivery in a matrixed environment working with various internal IT partners.
  • Expertise with normalized OLTP, MDM, and Data Warehouse Dimensional modeling techniques, including Star & Snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, role-playing dimensions, dimensional hierarchies, and data classification.
  • 5+ years of Google Cloud Platform experience.
  • Proficient in evaluating data structures and systems to determine when Third Normal Form (3NF) or denormalization offers efficiency and scalability.
  • Expertise in Data Quality, Data Profiling, Data Governance, Data Security, Metadata Management, MDM, Data Archival, and Data Migration strategies using appropriate tools.
  • Hands-on experience with open source software platforms and languages such as Java, Linux, Apache, Perl/Python/PHP, Chef.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL, ELT, streaming stacks (pub-sub, Kafka), Data Stream, Dataflow.
  • Experience with analytical tools, languages, or libraries.

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years of DbT experience.
  • Experience in the medical device or FDA regulated space.
  • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineering, Cloud Architect certification.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 13+ years related experience, or a Master's degree and 8+ years industry experience, or a PhD and 5+ years of experience.
