Senior Staff Software Engineer, Google Cloud Storage Security

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver the infrastructure security strategy for Google Cloud Storage (GCS), ensuring the protection and security of customer data, core content, and metadata in line with industry standards.
• Manage failure modes, data consistency, and solve problems in a distributed storage system managing objects and Queries per second (QPS).
• Design and implement solutions that meet business requirements and ensure operation and data integrity.
• Build knowledge of technical architecture, communicate requirements to other platform teams, and provide clarity on technical requirements and incremental deliverables.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and demonstrate communication, collaboration, and consensus-building skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience in Distributed Computing, including distributed systems concepts, architectures, and technologies.
• 3 years of experience in Java or C++, and with object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.

Nice to Have

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Ability to integrate security and privacy throughout the product development lifecycle, from design to deployment, with experience with threat modeling, risk assessment, and implementing security controls in a cloud environment.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits & Perks

• US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
