About the Role

Google Cloud's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The team leverages an open ecosystem built on the Kubernetes API and open-source components, providing solutions for public sector organizations and regulated enterprises with strict data residency and security requirements. As a Technical Lead in Reliability Engineering, you will define operations engineering strategies for Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) air-gapped environments, working with engineering teams to optimize the operations experience and support large-scale deployments.

Key Responsibilities

Define and execute deployment and operations scaling strategies for solutions, and aligning with overall product strategy and business objectives.
Design, vet, and deploy life-cycle features, tooling, and processes for planning, deployment, operations, upgrades, expansion, and turn down of GDC air-gapped instances.
Develop a strategic technical roadmap for Operations Engineering projects in collaboration with stakeholders across GDC and GCP.
Foster partnerships with various sub-teams within GDC, driving joint projects that strengthen overall Operations Excellence.
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers focused on Operations Engineering, and cultivate and manage relationships with key customers, serving as a primary engineering point of contact.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.
7 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Nice to Have

Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
Experience in Kubernetes, Anthos, and other container orchestration and technologies.
Experience in building large-scale operations capabilities in Site Reliability Engineering.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits & Perks

US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
Compensation details reflect the base salary only; bonus, equity, and benefits are additional.
