About the Role

Uber is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive structure and coordination for large-scale, complex initiatives around secure enablement of GenAI initiatives or leverage GenAI solutions to tackle complex security & privacy use cases. The Uber TPM team plays a critical role in driving high-impact, org-wide initiatives and continuously improving processes to enhance the efficiency of product and engineering organizations. The security organization at Uber is dedicated to enabling safe and secure innovation while protecting communities both online and in the physical world. Their teams are responsible for safeguarding people and data across digital and physical intersections, with the primary objective of enabling Uber's technical ambitions while maintaining the highest security standards for customers and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex and large-scale cross-team, cross-functional initiatives, interfacing with engineering managers and engineers to estimate work efforts, define milestones, manage resources, track progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks, and communicate status to upper management and program stakeholders.
  • Proactively remove obstacles to drive momentum and progress, identify communication gaps, manage issue escalations, and support teams in balancing competing priorities.
  • Understand technical implementation at the architecture level and propose technical alternatives when necessary, asking questions to clarify priorities and develop broad domain and technical knowledge.
  • Understand product compromises, keep the end customer in mind, and bridge between end customer and technical aspects with a data-driven approach to increase efficiency.
  • Help manage the cross-functional strategic planning and business planning process, leading conversations with key stakeholders to develop concepts for strategic initiatives and translating those into detailed program and project plans including roadmaps, funding, resource planning, objectives, measurable outcomes, and hiring goals.
  • Continuously improve and scale the organization by implementing process improvements, sharing frameworks, tools, and best practices, and mentoring project management skills within the engineering leadership team.
  • Manage cross-functional initiatives across diverse teams, ensuring milestones, KPIs, and risk controls are well-defined, tracked, and communicated to executive stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical program management or Engineering Manager experience in AI/ML, data platforms, or security-focused roles.
  • Strong understanding of Generative AI technologies and their application for product, data, and enterprise security use cases.
  • Proven track record of driving complex, cross-functional programs from inception to launch with the ability to influence technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with data infrastructure, offensive security, application security, cloud infrastructure, MLOps, and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Technical degree with software development experience, large-scale distributed infrastructure exposure, strong technical aptitude, and collaboration with engineers.
  • Analytical and truth-seeking mindset with the ability to understand complex concepts and make reasoned decisions objectively.
  • Metrics-driven with experience in determining effective program KPIs and using them to measure success and issues.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage many tasks without losing sight of priorities.
  • Ability to identify process gaps, measure progress, and balance engineering and product efficiency with process overhead.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with application security, red teaming, and/or offensive security technologies.
  • Prior exposure to open-source LLMs or vendor APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Gemini, Cursor, etc.)
