About the Role

Starbird Salem is Salem's neighborhood cannabis dispensary — locally owned, community-rooted, and dedicated to offering a smooth, friendly, and trustworthy experience. We're now hiring a strategic, content-savvy, data-driven SEO and Inbound Marketing Lead to help grow our digital footprint and drive real, qualified traffic to our website. This is not a social media management role — we already have a dedicated team for Instagram, Facebook, and other social channels. Your job is to own our SEO and inbound pipeline: researching keywords, creating helpful content, optimizing our website, and building our authority online.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct keyword research and competitive gap analysis
Optimize service and product pages (title tags, meta descriptions, alt text, schema, etc.)
Create blog and landing page content that drives organic traffic and converts
Build internal links and support backlink strategies from trusted sources
Help establish topical authority through consistent, helpful content in the cannabis space
Monitor and improve site performance (Core Web Vitals, speed, crawl errors)
Maintain Google Business Profile optimization (local SEO)
Report on performance weekly and monthly (traffic, conversions, keyword rankings)
Become (or already be) a Registered Marijuana Agent in Massachusetts
Provide occasional in-store support during peak hours, holidays, or events
Help bridge the gap between online strategy and in-store experience
Maintain knowledge of cannabis product categories, compliance, and store operations

Requirements

Experience in SEO and inbound marketing (agency or in-house)
Excellent writer and editor, especially for long-form or blog content
Familiar with SEO tools (GA4, Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, etc.)
Comfortable managing technical SEO elements (on-page, speed, tags, etc.)
Interest or experience in the cannabis industry a big plus
Registered Marijuana Agent or willing to become one
