About the Role

Bennington College is seeking a Social Media Coordinator and Admissions Fellow to join the Enrollment Management Team. The role involves building an online community through authentic, engaging content that increases the college's visibility, supporting admissions activities, and representing the college's voice across various social media platforms. The position emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, reflecting the college's values and commitment to a vibrant, inclusive community. Most work will be performed on campus, with a focus on capturing campus life, academic excellence, and the college's unique character.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, schedule, and post content on Bennington's social media accounts, including Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads, Facebook, Bluesky, and TikTok.
  • Support institutional priorities by overseeing the College's primary social accounts.
  • Tell Bennington stories by attending campus events, performances, lectures, and exhibitions to capture live content and interview community members.
  • Produce high-quality photo, video, and written content optimized for social media platforms.
  • Actively engage with online audiences by responding to comments, DMs, and mentions.
  • Identify and amplify user-generated content that aligns with the College's voice and values.
  • Draft emails and supplementary communications as needed.
  • Design and maintain reporting routines for social media analytics, review performance, and share insights with colleagues.
  • Contribute to campaign planning, content calendars, and cross-platform strategies in collaboration with marketing and Admissions teams.
  • Maintain a consistent tone, aesthetic, and visual identity across platforms.
  • Train and coach colleagues in social media usage and style.
  • Support Admissions activities, including serving as the primary admissions representative for a small local region, leading info sessions, and serving as counselor of the day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required with proven success in building and sustaining an audience or community on social media channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate an authentic and compelling voice for an organization.
  • Strong photography and videography skills for creating social media content.
  • Excellent attention to detail and creativity.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in digital and social media contexts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with strong organizational skills.
  • Understanding of communications strategy and digital publishing platforms.
  • Professional discretion in managing sensitive or confidential information.
  • Proficiency with social media, analytical tools, and social scheduling software (Hubspot preferred).
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, Google Office Suite, and adaptability to new technologies.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with social scheduling software such as Hubspot.
  • Additional familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite tools.
