About the Role

University Marketing and Communications at the University of Dayton is seeking a creative and organized Social Media Specialist to implement the university's social media strategy, focusing on audience engagement, content creation, copyediting, and content optimization. The role supports enhancing the university's brand and national reputation through collaborative efforts within the division, with a commitment to inclusion, belonging, and authentic representation rooted in Catholic, Marianist traditions. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-campus and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and post social media content, including copywriting and copyediting.
  • Create and pitch fresh, engaging ideas for university social accounts.
  • Respond to and engage with the community on social media platforms.
  • Assist with issues management and crisis communications.
  • Report social media trends, performance metrics, and insights.
  • Support the implementation, measurement, and optimization of the university's social media strategy.
  • Collaborate with team members to execute social media campaigns and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in creating on-brand content for social media, including being a voice for a business or organization.
  • Effective collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and manage projects from concept to completion.
  • Strong written communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Two years of experience in social media, communications, or marketing.
  • Ability to write and schedule engaging, strategic content and monitor online communities.
  • Experience with social community management, social listening, and issues management.
  • Experience with social media performance tools such as Brandwatch, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Facebook Insights.
  • Demonstrated success in following social media trends and implementing campaigns.
  • Ability to develop collaborative partnerships.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to a Catholic, Marianist work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
