Job Description

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to represent the Brazos River Authority's programs and services via social media platforms supporting the mission, goals, objectives, and strategic plan of the Brazos River Authority by translating complex information into accessible and engaging content for our diverse audience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Using data analysis to develop and implement strategies and create content tailored to the target audience.
  • Regularly monitoring and reporting statistics to improve overall delivery of content, making recommendations on the appropriate tools and strategies for platform utilization improvement.
  • Logging and tracking posts to meet state or federal communication requirements.
  • Communicating via various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Nextdoor, and YouTube.
  • Knowledge of social media scheduling platforms, distilling information into short, engaging social media posts while using texts, photos, videos, and graphics.
  • Creating graphics and video content using Canva or other graphics software.
  • Logging complaints reported on social media channels, interacting with other employees, and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Participating in departmental on-call rotation to post and update information on the BRA website and to post information and answer questions and comments on social media.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years in mass communications or related field with social media trend, analysis and metrics experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, with completed course requirements to earn the degree.
  • Creating honest, trusting, and successful working relationships with others by demonstrating competence and reliability.
  • Maintaining motivation and effectiveness despite delays, setbacks, policy shifts, and disappointment.
  • Quick adaptation to new information and evolving priorities.
  • Effective communication skills, both in conversation and in writing, with an excellent command of grammar.
  • Experience in writing, editing, and proofreading for accuracy.
  • Ability to handle a large amount of work efficiently and effectively while meeting deadlines.
  • Investing in understanding the evolving nature of the role and developing relevant skills and behaviors.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with social media trend analysis and metrics.
  • Knowledge of graphics software other than Canva.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • At least three years of experience in mass communications or related field with social media trend, analysis, and metrics experience
