About the Role

Workday is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineering Manager to contribute to the success and growth of the Learning Product team. The role involves building a new team in Atlanta focused on supporting Federal customers, managing multiple projects with tight deadlines, fostering high-quality enterprise application development, and promoting a workplace culture that values diversity, inclusion, and fun. Key Responsibilities

  • Strategize with cross-functional teams to prioritize, plan, and execute top-tier experiences for Workday Learning customers.
  • Lead the development teams through scrum and agile methodologies to deliver innovative features for global markets.
  • Coordinate the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and enhancement of the Workday Learning product to ensure superior quality.
  • Collaborate extensively with Development, Product, QA, Automation, Research/UX, Agility, Doc-writing, and Customer Support teams to proactively address and resolve customer issues creatively and efficiently.
  • Mentor and develop team members, supporting both their professional growth and personal development.
  • Embody and promote Workday's core values: Employees, Customer Service, Innovation, Integrity, Fun, and Profitability.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience leading full stack software engineering teams in an Agile environment with CI/CD and test automation.
  • 8+ years of experience developing applications using Cloud-based technologies.
  • 8+ years of experience with design and development using an object-oriented language such as Java, Python, C#, C++, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience.
  • US citizenship and residence in the US.
  • Good project management skills, specifically balancing multiple dependencies and delivering to committed deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate technical complexity in simple terms to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Proven people management and mentorship experience supporting professional and personal growth of team members.
  • Strong engineering leadership, acting as a coach and mentor, leading with empathy, and inspiring teams towards excellence.
  • Ability to nurture a growth mindset, challenge conventional processes, and drive sustainable success.
  • Experience cultivating a workplace culture that values diversity, inclusion, and fun.

Nice to Have

  • Interest in Agentic AI development.
  • Experience working with Federal customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience.
