Software Engineer - Accounting

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Work with a small, highly-talented, and fun-loving team to enhance the Geneva enterprise investment accounting system that services clients in the hedge fund, fund administration, asset management, and prime brokerage space.
• Collaborate with product managers to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical designs.
• Participate in the design and estimation process, presenting and analyzing alternatives to identify the most desirable solution.
• Build incremental features from the product road-map, focusing on execution and taking ownership of integrating new functionality into the existing code base.
• Seek out design and code reviews to ensure quality.
• Work in an Agile Scrum development environment.
• Manage personal time effectively and communicate project plans and status to stakeholders.
• Work with development managers to keep short and long-term projects progressing.

Requirements

• BS degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2+ years' experience in object-oriented programming using C++.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems, specifically RHEL platforms.
• Commitment to high standards in software development processes.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills with team members and managers.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and determination to overcome obstacles.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under time constraints and changing priorities.
• Willingness to collaborate across time zones and flexibility in working hours.

Nice to Have

• Experience with enterprise-wide, large-scale systems development.
• Knowledge of financial instruments and the financial industry, especially back office operations.
• Experience with institutional portfolio accounting.
• Knowledge and experience with bug tracking and Agile tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

• Educational background with a BS degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
