Software Engineer (AI Applications) - Flex Hybrid in Chicago, IL

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Build and deploy generative AI-driven applications using modern full-stack technologies (React, Python, cloud services).
• Develop and enhance Cboe's AI Platform.
• Design new agents and tools and integrate them with the Cboe AI Platform.
• Create intuitive, novel user interfaces that make complex AI capabilities accessible to end users.
• Stay up to date on AI advancements, and think critically about when and how to implement them.
• Work closely with complementary engineering teams.
• Produce clear and thorough documentation, including high-level charter, functional requirements, technical design, and testing scenarios.
• Provide ongoing application support to end users.
• Communicate technical information clearly and concisely to an end-user audience.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or demonstrated experience building generative AI applications in another discipline.
• 1-3 years of experience building applications in Python.
• 1-2 years of experience with React and modern front-end development.
• Understanding of prompting best practices.
• Knowledge of current AI landscape.
• Willingness to think creatively to explore potential use cases.
• A passion for working in financial markets.

Nice to Have

• Worked with cloud computing services (AWS, Snowflake preferred).
• Experience with vector databases, text embeddings, and/or agent-based AI tools.
• Experience writing effective and performant SQL.
• Experience building end-to-end, large-scale web applications.
• Projects or experience leveraging AI for creative or novel use cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or demonstrated experience building generative AI applications.
