About the Role

The Software Engineer II at 7-Eleven, Inc. is responsible for developing and maintaining backend services, designing scalable applications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless, scalable solutions. The role involves working with technologies such as Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS, and includes mentoring team members and participating in agile processes to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js, ensuring clean and efficient code.
Design and optimize MongoDB schemas, implementing efficient queries and aggregation pipelines.
Deploy and manage applications on AWS, utilizing services like EC2, S3, SQS, and Lambda.
Implement security best practices in AWS, including IAM roles and access control.
Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews to ensure quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in agile processes, including daily stand-ups and sprint planning.
Document technical specifications, codebases, and systems architecture for future reference.
Lead the design of scalable applications, creating technical specifications and design documents.
Optimize existing applications for performance, including caching, load balancing, and auto-scaling.
Stay updated with the latest technologies in Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS, proposing innovations where applicable.
Mentor new/junior team members and help them understand the existing application/system.
Participate in knowledge transfer sessions to enrich all team members with system information.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and front-end engineers to deliver solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in software development or related roles.
5 years in software development with a focus on managing backend and API services.
2 years experience with Javascript, Angular, Node.js, Typescript.
2 years experience with AWS.
2 years experience with MongoDB.
1 year experience with Java.
1 year experience with JIRA and Confluence.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience in managing backend and API services.
Proficiency with Javascript, Angular, Node.js, Typescript, AWS, MongoDB, Java, JIRA, and Confluence.
