Key Responsibilities

Research, design, develop, build and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed components that run applications.
Build new features and improve existing products.
Work on problems of diverse scope and design core, backend software components.
Handle large-scale data storage, synchronization and coordination of large server cluster, and provide a runtime environment for front end code.
Receive little instruction on day-to-day work, code using primarily C/C++, Java, PHP and Hack.
Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa.
Conduct design and code reviews.
Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.
Complete medium to large features (each with many tasks) independently without guidance.
Identify and drive changes as needed for assigned codebase product area and/or systems.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Completion of an undergraduate-level course, research project, or internship involving coding in C, C++, Java, or C#.
Experience building large-scale infrastructure applications.
Experience creating web applications using Python, PHP, or Ruby.
Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
Experience implementing web interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, or CSS.
Familiarity with frameworks such as React or React Native.
Experience conducting design and code reviews.
Knowledge of object-oriented software development.
Experience building Android applications in Java using Android SDK.
Ability to build maintainable and testable code bases including API design and unit testing techniques.
Experience with software development tools such as code editors (VIM or Emacs) and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce).
Experience building highly-scalable performant solutions.
Proficiency with Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS including file manipulation, advanced commands, and shell scripting.
Knowledge of data processing, programming languages, databases, networking, operating systems, computer graphics, or human-computer interaction.
Ability to apply algorithms and core computer science concepts to real-world systems.
Understanding of client-server communication patterns including REST, GraphQL, or gRPC.
Knowledge of mobile architecture patterns that can scale to large teams and codebases.
Experience building mobile and desktop web applications using JavaScript, including asynchronous programming, closures, types, and ES6.
Front end development experience with React, Vue, or Angular.
Skills in debugging or benchmarking.
