About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Owner/Engineering Manager to lead one of our engineering teams. The ideal candidate has experience leading teams through the design, planning, and execution phase of complex software projects. You will have delivered several Software as a Service (SaaS) applications all the way to production. Although this is a manager role, the expectation is that this individual will be spending at least 50% of their time directly contributing to the software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 5-7 individuals with mixed roles including software engineers, quality assurance, etc.
  • Ensure your team is creating performant, testable, and well-thought-out software for our production environment.
  • Guide the team as you use your experience and feedback to iterate through designing scalable solutions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, UX/UI design, and QA, to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement features.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code. Conduct code reviews and mentor other engineers to uphold high coding standards.
  • Implement and maintain robust testing strategies to ensure the reliability and performance of the content authoring tool. Utilize automated testing frameworks where appropriate.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends. Propose and implement improvements to the development process, tools, and practices.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the content authoring tool, including design specifications, API documentation, and user guides.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on full stack.
  • Has previously led teams of 5-7 individuals.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
  • Full-stack development experience.
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET (Framework and .NET 8/Core, Entity Framework).
  • Experience with React (Redux, Hooks, Components), JavaScript (ES6+), Webpack.
  • Experience building cloud-native applications in Azure.
  • Database development with SQL Server and experience authoring/debugging stored procedures in TSQL.
  • Relational database design, normalization, and indexing strategies.
  • Experience with alternative datastores/technologies such as OpenSearch, Redis, and Memcached.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage software engineering teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and mentor junior team members.
  • High sense of urgency with a passion for learning and continuous improvement.

Nice to Have

  • Experience using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Fabric, Synapse.
  • Experience with Salesforce or developing Salesforce applications with Apex.
  • Experience with mobile development (iOS/Android native).
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline development.
  • Use of AI coding tools such as Copilot, Claude, etc.
