About the Role

The role is for a Software Engineering Technical Leader at Cisco Silicon One, a center focused on ASIC design and next-generation network devices for the AI/ML era. The team operates in a startup atmosphere within a stable corporate environment, developing breakthrough silicon products for high-speed, programmable, and scalable network infrastructure. The position involves working closely with internal engineering teams and external partners to develop, debug, and support Silicon One software, contributing to innovative infrastructure products, and providing guidance to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, and debug Cisco's next-generation Silicon One Software.
  • Interact and work closely with Cisco System product development teams to develop and debug datapath applications.
  • Work closely with external partners, vendors, and customers to develop, debug, and support Silicon One software.
  • Drive SW/HW system integration and testing across multiple functions.
  • Work on networking protocols for switch/router and infrastructure products.
  • Modify and add new software enhancements.
  • Contribute to testing and debugging capabilities to ensure system quality.
  • Translate ASIC architecture knowledge to Cisco product development teams.
  • Provide guidance and support, including documentation, for Silicon One customers.
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation infrastructure products.
  • Develop and automate regression test suites and create new test cases.
  • Assist customers with integrating Silicon One Software into their NOS environment and provide ongoing support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in EE/CS with 8+ years of related experience or Master of Science in EE/CS with 6+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in software development and integration using C++ and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with L2/L3 networking and forwarding protocols (bridges/routers).
  • Experience developing and debugging in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with system-wide development, testing, and debugging.

Nice to Have

  • Working knowledge of GDB/PDB and debugging application and kernel drivers.
  • Expertise in BGP, ECMP, and ACL scalability and performance evaluation.
  • Experience with traffic generators such as IXIA or Spirent.
  • Experience with VLAN or VXLAN.
  • Understanding/Experience of SAI.
