Optum Insight is seeking a service-oriented Sr. Consultant, Strategic Analytics to lead the expansion of strategic insights and adoption of data-driven decision-making in client health systems, focusing on areas such as network management, patient engagement, and service line development. The role involves acting as an advisor and interface between the analytics organization and key client stakeholders to facilitate data and insight utilization for healthcare delivery improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with key stakeholders and executives across the client organization to support their operational and strategic objectives with actionable analytics
  • Manage a portfolio of analytics, proactively tracking and communicating new developments to the client
  • Facilitate prioritization of high-level client objectives as well as individual needs to develop a cohesive analytics roadmap
  • Act as a liaison between leadership and analytics delivery teams to streamline communication and organization of projects
  • Regularly communicate project updates, successes, issues, and risks with stakeholders
  • Lead efforts to create new analytical insights and capabilities related to growth, network management, patient engagement, service line development, and other areas for client provider health systems
  • Create requirements that support business needs and answer questions about performance and opportunities for optimization
  • Perform analysis to answer business questions and guide organizational strategy
  • Partner with analytical platform teams, data engineering, and data governance to ensure data accuracy and efficiency
  • Act as a subject matter expert in areas such as value-based care, network management, and population health
  • Design and lead user acceptance testing to ensure value delivery to the client
  • Maximize the value of analytics to the client by championing utilization and leveraging data literacy infrastructure
  • Assist customers with orientation to their analytics ecosystem, including reporting solutions across platforms
  • Identify training needs and gaps to increase analytics adoption
  • Present insights to stakeholders to maximize value and adoption of analytics
  • Oversee and guide team members' workload and progression
  • Partner with other domain leaders to incorporate clinical, quality, and operational insights into decision-making processes

Requirements

  • 3+ years of demonstrated success in healthcare analytics advisory and/or consulting
  • 2+ years of experience with health system processes and decision-making in various providers within a healthcare delivery system
  • 2+ years of experience managing analytics projects or initiatives with minimal guidance
  • 1+ years of experience guiding and developing junior team members
  • Demonstrated strength in analytics competency using Excel, SQL, or comparable tools
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing multiple complex initiatives or projects
  • Experience and credibility interacting with healthcare leaders, including C-level executives and medical directors
  • Proven interpersonal communication, presentation skills, and emotional intelligence
  • Knowledge of key health management areas such as market share, growth, network management, value-based care, and provider engagement
  • Experience writing and understanding SQL logic
  • Success leading large complex programs or initiatives where data is a key asset
  • Ability to tailor analytics to audiences at all decision-making levels
  • Experience working in a matrix environment
  • Experience with Epic modules or components
  • Advanced degrees or certifications in Analytics, Public Health, Health Administration, Business, Biological Science, or Data Science
  • Experience working in Agile environments, employing SCRUM, Lean, and Kanban methodologies
