Sr. Data Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Building data driven systems, architectures, and platforms to provide innovative solutions for long-term analytical outputs and cloud-based application development projects.
• Participating on cross-functional teams of technology, product, and business specialists to deliver customer-centric, big data projects using leading edge tools and technologies.
• Using strong technical and quantitative skills to identify new business opportunities within large and varied data sets, delivering proposals, defining requirements, and guiding projects through successful delivery and validation.
• Translating business problems into analytical, data-driven methodologies to improve efficiencies and generate financial gains.
• Communicating complex analysis clearly to non-experts.
• Designing and continuously improving algorithms.
• Mining raw, relevant data from various sources to identify patterns and generate actionable insights.
• Managing stakeholders and guiding them in unlocking data value.
• Influencing architectures to transform data analytics platforms and IT overall.
• Working on projects of moderate scope or varied tasks requiring resourcefulness and independent judgment.
• Guiding less experienced team members and recommending new procedures.
• Advising staff and cross-functional teams to meet project schedules and develop solutions.
• Establishing procedures and recommending policy changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field plus 5 years of experience as a data engineer.
• Or Master's degree or foreign equivalent in the same fields plus 3 years of experience.
• At least 3 years of experience getting data through API with Python.
• Knowledge of big data platforms.
• Proficient coding skills and strong algorithm and data structure knowledge.
• Knowledge of tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Presto, Hive, or Airflow.
• Proven ability to transform data, develop data structures, build a metadata store, and set up data pipelines or workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a can-do attitude.
• Experience with software engineering best practices, including git and version control systems.
• Solid communication skills to explain complex data pipelines to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent writing and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
