You are also responsible for the development of reporting and analytics and provide performance and trends; In addition, discover new opportunities to optimize the business through analytics, and use case prioritization. The emphasis for this position is technical leadership and subject matter expertise guiding the development teams through design and complex problem-solving. The ideal candidate will have strong stakeholder management experience, along with proven ability to manage technical teams developing scalable analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced statistical and predictive modeling techniques to design, develop and deploy machine learning models into production, employing state-of-the-art libraries, and adhering to the organization's established processes for transitioning from development to production environments
  • Lead discovery processes with Data Scientists and partner with Marketing to identify the business requirements and the expected outcome
  • Create and provide sound statistical analyses and frame business scenarios that are meaningful and which impact on critical business processes and/or decisions
  • Collaborate with data engineers to gather information for analytics and predictive model building, ensuring data meets qualification and assurance requirements
  • Design sampling methodology, prepare data including cleaning, univariate analysis, missing value imputation, etc., identify appropriate analytic and statistical methodology, develop predictive models, and document processes and results
  • Communicate analytics results and work with team members to produce models for marketing partners and clients
  • Provide ongoing tracking and monitoring of model performance and recommend improvements to methods and algorithms

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in statistical modelling, machine learning, and data analysis
  • 5+ years of experience manipulating large datasets
  • 3+ years of leading projects/project management experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading complex data science projects with a cross-functional team, and developing and deploying machine learning models in production environments
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating complex technical results to non-technical audiences and stakeholders
  • Has previously worked or is currently working as an employee/contractor placed at UHG or one of its subsidiaries or affiliates

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years of experience in programming languages e.g. Python/R and SQL
  • Experience with distributed computing technologies such as Spark
  • Experience with Git / Github for version control
  • Experience with healthcare claims data
  • Experience with Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, and/or similar tools
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Demonstrated leadership and strategic thinking skills
  • Natural curiosity to learn more, dig into details, and understand key drivers of emerging trends and challenges
