Job Description

About the Role

The Flight Simulators group supports Honeywell Avionics products by developing software solutions and integrated simulation applications, including Flight Management Systems (FMS), avionics software, and related simulation tools. As an Application Software Engineer in this group, you will play a crucial role in developing and supporting flight simulation software, enabling realistic flight scenario simulations and advancing aviation technology within Honeywell Aerospace Service & Technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop software solutions for rehosted Flight Simulation software and Honeywell PC-FMS, a PC-based version of the Primus FMS line.
  • Develop and deploy PC-based FMS products that communicate with display hardware and flight training devices in a cockpit environment.
  • Implement product updates and enhancements to the PC-based FMSim application used by flight simulation customers.
  • Provide software-based links to FMS I/O interfaces to enable communication with flight hardware systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions.
  • Manage project timelines, customer commitments, and resources.
  • Develop expertise in Honeywell products such as Primus Epic FMS, APEX system, Anthem Flight system, and Honeywell Aircraft Surveillance products like MKV, EGPWS, TAWS, TCAS, and WXRDR.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant related Engineering field.
  • Experience in software engineering, application development, or a similar role.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in software languages such as C/C++, C#, Python, Ada, among others.
  • U.S. Person status due to export control laws.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Windows or Linux development environments and operating systems.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems.
  • Knowledge of I/O modules, ESCAPE registries, DLS.
  • Ability to gather requirements from PVCS, DOORS, and other systems.
  • Experience with simulator environments and tools such as TATS, PCSim, TIU, EASE, FTD.
  • Knowledge of DEOS operating system.
  • Familiarity with aircraft surveillance products, avionics, flight simulation, AFCS, FMS, displays, or related systems.
  • Experience with configuration management.
  • Debugging skills across multiple systems and problem resolution.

  • Educational background in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering fields.
