Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive. *Must work a hybrid model (3 days onsite) out of our Atlanta office.* Your New Role : In partnership with Data leadership, the Sr. Manager of Data Governance will be responsible for helping to mature WBD's enterprise-wide Data Governance Office (DGO). In this position, you will help define and execute a vision that treats data as a strategic asset, ensuring data is managed to drive business value, meet compliance requirements and mitigate risks. You will play a pivotal role in developing data governance frameworks, policies, and processes from the ground up. You will partner with technology and business leaders and facilitate the implementation of tools and processes to establish visibility of data across the organization. You will act as the main liaison between business leaders and technology teams by collaborating closely with the Privacy Compliance, Privacy Operations, Legal, GICS and Risk teams to ensure cross-alignment and support. You will collaborate with data stewards and custodians within the organization to manage the required operations to achieve data consistency, quality, and protection to meet overall organizational needs. You will facilitate and manage related domain council meetings and prepare required material for data council meetings. You will partner closely in defining the roadmaps for implementing and maintaining data governance tools, such as the data catalog and master data management tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the enterprise data domain strategy and multi-year roadmap.
  • Establish the data governance framework (policies, standards, and processes) aligned with industry best practices (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK2, DCAM) and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand team needs and dependencies to better align business processes.
  • Create comprehensive and meaningful strategy presentations for senior executives.
  • Champion data as an enabler of business value and innovation.
  • Collaborate with business units to improve data quality and accessibility to create trusted data.
  • Lead initiatives on data standardization, metadata management, and data lineage to increase transparency and usability of data.
  • Promote data literacy programs and promote the benefits of governed data.
  • Oversee the implementation and adoption of data governance technologies and master data management (MDM) solutions.
  • Define requirements for tooling that support data stewardship, workflows, data lineage tracking, reference data management, and data quality monitoring.
  • Assist in establishing and coordinating the project plan for migration of the project into production.
  • Help provide training for new processes.
  • Ensure tools are utilized to drive business value.
  • Act as the chief advocate for data governance across the organization.
  • Co-Chair the Data Governance Councils, engaging executives and data owners in governance decisions and issue resolution.
  • Communicate program progress, successes, and metrics to senior leadership.
  • Manage and mentor data governance team (e.g., direct reports, data stewards, data owners).
  • Set clear goals and roles for team members, and provide coaching and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Business Administration or similar field of study.
  • 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard models (i.e., DAMA-DMBOK and EDM council's DCAM model), data governance frameworks, policies and standards.
  • Experience with data governance tools (i.e., Collibra, Informatica, SAPMDG, Reltio).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale data governance programs or initiatives.
  • A track record of driving organizational change in how data is managed through influencing, consensus-building, and effective communication.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • People management experience - capable of mentoring staff and building a high-performing team.
  • Confidence to dive into data, understand it inside out and how it connects to business stakeholders.
  • Comfort level with ambiguity and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Solid business acumen, and critical problem-solving ability, with a capacity for strategic thinking.

Nice to Have

  • Media and Entertainment experience.
  • Advanced degree in Information Management, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Business Administration or similar field of study.
  • Certifications (e.g., CDMP, CIMP, DGSP, or DCAM framework certification).
  • Familiarity with related data management disciplines and tools beyond core data governance (e.g., data architecture, business intelligence, big data platforms, data security technologies, data privacy technologies).
  • Prior experience working in a large, global organization with a matrix structure.
  • Familiarity with streaming and similar products/services.
