About the Role

The Senior Project Manager - GIS is responsible for the successful delivery of projects from handover with the sales team to the delivery team, through project execution stages, culminating in closure and eventual handover to the support team. This role involves working with digital grid team leads to assemble project teams, monitor and control project quality, and ensure project scope, timelines, and budgets are met within the context of electrical utility systems and digital grid projects. The position is based in the U.S. and offers a comprehensive benefits package, with a focus on managing complex, multi-phase projects typically valued between $5 million and $10 million.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, initiate, and manage information technology (IT) projects, GIS and ADMS projects with Electrical Utilities.
  • Manage project scope, budget, timelines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and guide the work of technical staff and serve as liaison between business and technical aspects of projects.
  • Plan project stages, assess business implications, monitor progress, and maintain partner relationships.
  • Ensure delivery of complex, multi-phase Digital Grid projects within scope and budget.
  • Build and manage a cost and invoicing plan, including subcontractor invoices, to ensure positive cash flow and project finance KPI targets.
  • Monitor project costs, track financial performance, and engage contract management for margin protection.
  • Document and address stakeholder concerns, proactively manage expectations, and resolve conflicts.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, maintain expense logs, and report project status and health to leadership.

Requirements

  • Complex project management experience (7+ years), with at least 5 years managing GIS or ADMS software implementation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of utility market processes, digital grid projects, and related systems such as DMS, SCADA, OMS, EMS, Arc FM, Esri GIS, MDM, CIS, and Work Management.
  • Experience managing projects through all stages of the SE Customer Project Process.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Microsoft Project), ERP systems, and resource planning tools.
  • Knowledge of financial aspects of project management, including KPIs and invoicing.
  • Ability to work remotely, with travel availability up to 25% within North America.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • PMP certification considered an asset.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Nice to Have

  • Sound knowledge of various project management and agile methods.
  • Experience with software project delivery lifecycles.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software or Adobe Workfront.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification considered an asset.
