The Data & Insights Team empowers data-driven decision making by delivering trusted analytics, insights, and tools to various business functions, partnering closely with teams such as Marketing, Sales, Finance, Product, and Customer First. The Staff Data Analyst will play a key role in creating the foundation for data-based decision-making across Okta's functional business teams, leveraging cutting-edge cloud and big data technologies to drive business insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on GTM (Go to Market) analytics, data models, metrics, and value drivers.
  • Drive analytics strategy for revenue drivers, sales acceleration, and proactive Customer insights across Marketing, Sales, and Customer First using transactional and product telemetry data.
  • Define requirements for the semantic layer to support advanced analytics and dashboarding.
  • Lead analytics initiatives focused on growth, retention, and predictive modeling (e.g., cross-sell, risk signals).
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather business requirements, identify trends, and uncover insights.
  • Collaborate with engineering to define, test, and improve data pipelines, sources, and transformations.
  • Build and QA reports, dashboards, and prototypes while supporting ad hoc analysis and issue resolution.
  • Champion best practices in data modeling, storytelling, and process improvement across analytics workflows.

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience as a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or BI Developer.
  • Advanced SQL experience.
  • Experience with building reports and visualizations in Tableau or similar tools.
  • Experience with ETL processes, software development, and lifecycle awareness using Python, Java, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate with technical and non-technical teams.
  • BS in Computer Science, MIS, or a related technical degree, or equivalent relevant working experience.
