About the Role

We are looking for our next Staff Data Scientist to bring their experience and help us keep pushing forward as leaders of the next retail disruption! Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. The Personalization Team at Walmart creates best-in-class data products that power numerous end-to-end personalized recommendations using state-of-the-art industrial tech. Walmart Global Tech is a people-led, tech-empowered environment where innovation impacts millions and redefines retail. We foster collaboration, rapid alignment, and purposeful connection across our global hubs in Bentonville, San Francisco, and New York/New Jersey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and integration of data science driven product capabilities.
  • Oversee team’s projects and provide technical support to unblock team and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Promote adhering to MLOps and software best practices including data and code quality testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and drive innovation.
  • Evaluate business cases, translate product requirements into strategies, and help in prioritization and planning.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D degree in data science, Computer Science or related fields with 5+ years of practical data science experience.
  • Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistics.
  • Industry experience in ecommerce and digital customer behavior applications.
  • Strong programming skills in SQL, Python and PySpark.
  • Exceptional business acumen and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to prototype and implement complex AI solutions.
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, and written skills.

Nice to Have

  • Generative AI experience is a big plus.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 2: Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 3: 6 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
