About the Role

Patreon is a media and community platform where over 300,000 creators give their biggest fans access to exclusive work and experiences. We offer creators a variety of ways to engage with their communities and build a lasting business including: paid memberships, free memberships, community chats, live experiences, and selling to fans directly with one-time purchases. Our goal is to fund the creative class, and we are leaders in that space with over $8 billion in revenue generated since inception, 60 million+ free memberships, and 10 million+ paying fans monthly. We are investing heavily in building the best creator platform and are looking for a Staff Full Stack Engineer to join our Payments team to support this mission. This role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid work model requiring in-office presence 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

Help scale and expand capabilities of Patreon's payment platform to ensure creators get paid effectively and on time.
Lead and contribute to the development and design of Payments products and tools to maximize creators' earnings on Patreon.
Drive technical design of scalable, well-tested, and maintainable components.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to build new functionality while maintaining a delightful user experience.
Work with frontend frameworks and technologies including React, Typescript, and Next.js.
Work with backend technologies such as Java, Python, Flask, Spring Boot, MySQL, and AWS, and introduce other technologies as appropriate.
Mentor and guide engineers inside and outside the team to build a strong product-minded engineering culture.

Requirements

8+ years of software development experience.
Strong experience with frontend frameworks and technologies including React, Typescript, and Next.js.
Strong experience with Python or a similar language and SQL.
Solid communication skills with cross-functional team members and mentoring junior engineers.
A track record of building systems with attention to detail, high reliability, and high throughput.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent.
Experience building products in the payments domain is a plus but not required.
