About the Role

As a Staff React Native Platform Engineer working remotely on Shipt's Shopper Mobile App team, you will be focused on building a world-class mobile experience for Shipt Shoppers and architecting reliable, performant and scalable React Native solutions. You will work with a cross-functional team to deliver features, participate in data-driven experiments, and ensure high-quality mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms. The role involves collaboration with front end and backend engineers, product managers, designers, and leadership to drive impactful outcomes for the business.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain cross-platform mobile applications using React Native, with a focus on maintaining and optimizing performance.
Collaborate with Design and Product teams to transform high-fidelity designs into accurate, working features.
Conduct code reviews, guide design discussions, participate in release processes, and mentor team members.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues specific to cross-platform mobile development.
Proactively adhere to Apple App Store and Google Play Store compliance regulations and implement necessary changes.
Own tasks supporting the mobile app platform, such as upgrading dependencies, improving CI/CD pipelines, and extending profiling and performance analytics.
Perform testing and establish automated test patterns to prevent regressions.
Research and mitigate vulnerabilities, promote secure coding practices, and ensure app security.

Requirements

6+ years of developer experience, with 4+ years of React Native experience.
Experience with testing methodologies including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Strong collaboration skills with Design and Product teams to ship projects and enhancements.
Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
Experience with code review practices and advocating for best practices.
Demonstrated mentorship and leadership in technical teams.
Experience developing and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications using React Native.
Familiarity with Objective-C, Swift, Java, or Kotlin is desirable.
Contributions to open source libraries within the React Native ecosystem are strongly preferred.

Nice to Have

Experience with native packages and complex package upgrades.
Experience with testing frameworks such as Detox.
Experience with Objective-C, Swift, Java, or Kotlin.
Contributions to open source React Native libraries.

Qualifications

Minimum of 6 years of mobile development experience, with some experience in React Native.
