Staff Software Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable, efficient data pipelines for batch and real-time processing using tools like DBT, Snowflake, Apache Flink, and Airflow.
• Design and deliver robust Java-based micro-services and Python-based EKS jobs for data transformation and feature engineering.
• Lead the development of real-time data ingestion and transformation systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data science, and engineering teams to define and deliver impactful features.
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design discussions, and mentoring.
• Ensure high code quality through comprehensive unit and integration testing.
• Contribute to observability and reliability practices, including monitoring, alerting, and on-call support.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives across teams.
• Influence long-term data strategy and architectural decisions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software/data engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Python, SQL, and object-oriented programming.
• Expertise in data engineering tools such as DBT, Snowflake, Airflow, and cloud-native data platforms.
• Proven experience in building and scaling big data applications with a focus on performance and observability.
• Hands-on experience with data frameworks like Pandas, Dask, or Polars.
• Experience deploying ML-based solutions from conception to production.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
• Deep understanding of AWS/GCP/Azure services including EKS, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Amazon SageMaker, AWS Bedrock, and model monitoring tools.
• Background in recommendation systems or real-time low-latency applications.
• Experience working closely with Data Science or AI/ML teams.
• Familiarity with cost optimization, schema design, and performance tuning in cloud data platforms.
