About the Role

Headway's mission is a big one - to build a new mental health care system everyone can access. We've built technology that helps people find great therapists with the first software-enabled national network of providers accepting insurance. Headway was founded in 2019 and has grown into a diverse, national network of over 45,000 mental healthcare providers across all 50 states who run their practice on our software and have served over 1 million patients. We are a Series D company with over $325m in funding from prominent investors. Our engineering team is small but impactful, focused on building a new mental healthcare system through technology, guided by principles like focusing on the mission, shipping small and learning fast, treating everything as a product, and optimizing for trust.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to building and scaling Headway's provider growth platforms, including referral systems, onboarding flows, and platform support for provider supervision.
Develop and maintain scalable, reliable web applications using modern technologies and frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and implement solutions that support company growth initiatives.
Participate in technical design, review, and planning activities to ensure high-quality engineering standards.
Mentor junior engineers and support the growth of the engineering team.

Requirements

Experience working across the stack on modern web applications.
Strong understanding of at least one programming language and comfortability with others.
Ability to deal with ambiguity and learn new technologies and systems.
Experience architecting complex systems spanning multiple technical domains or product areas.
Experience driving technical vision and strategy, writing and reviewing technical design documents, and participating in planning activities.
Supportive team member committed to the growth of those around them.

Nice to Have

Experience with Python 3, TypeScript, FastAPI, React, Remix, Next.js, AWS, Spark, Kafka.
Experience leading major technical initiatives and establishing engineering standards across multiple teams.
Mentorship experience with senior engineers and technical leaders.

Qualifications

Experience with modern web application development.
Proficiency in at least one programming language and familiarity with others.
Experience in system architecture and technical strategy.

Base pay range of $233,000 - $276,000, with potential performance-based variable compensation and equity.
