About the Role

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The team builds infrastructure, tooling, and monitoring to optimize capacity, drive global expansion, and ensure disaster resilience, focusing on exabyte-scale products and more devops and SRE work than typical software engineering roles. The role involves building tooling to support scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure and impact across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Be the technical lead for a team of engineers.
Implement robust automation for capacity forecasting, capacity distribution, efficiency tracking, regionalization and develop the technical strategy for how to fix these problems in the long term.
Write code in Go, Python, and SQL.
Engage with various engineering teams across the organization to understand pain points.
Research independently and recommend best practices for new tooling.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.
5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Nice to Have

Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.

Benefits & Perks

US base salary range of $197,000-$291,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
