About the Role

The STAT Social Media Manager Intern will support the Promotional and Social Media Manager's efforts by creating, managing, and scheduling content for the STAT and Alumni social media accounts. This student leader will help promote STAT events, campus traditions, and alumni stories while building community pride and school spirit online. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for students who want to make a difference, and can give you a head start in virtually any career. The role involves engaging with constituents, attending events to capture content, and creating relevant social media posts to enhance the university's online presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and schedule content for the STAT and Alumni social media accounts.
  • Promote STAT events, campus traditions, and alumni stories to build community pride and school spirit.
  • Attend university events to capture content and stay up to date on university activities.
  • Develop engaging concepts that align with STAT's social media strategy.
  • Create video content, including reels and other media, to engage audiences and send to donors.
  • Facilitate and maintain positive relationships between the University and its community members (alumni, friends, and parents).
  • Communicate with prospective donors through multiple channels of engagement in a professional and positive manner.
  • Attend relevant student activities and assist University Relations staff as needed.
  • Participate in regular STAT training sessions.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Photography and videography skills.
  • Ability to come up with fun relevant content for social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
  • Comfortable speaking to people.
  • Enthusiastic, respectful, and reliable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Open to giving and receiving feedback.
  • Available to work a minimum of two shifts a week.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with University of Portland and its philanthropic initiatives.
  • Preferences will be given to students with Federal Work Study in their Financial Aid package.
