Job Description

About the Role

The Student Position for 2025/2026 at Northwestern Media involves creating and implementing social media content and marketing strategies to promote the podcast network. The role includes collaborating with the Podcast and Marketing Teams, analyzing social media analytics, and supporting podcast promotion efforts. This position is located on the main campus and requires working during regular business hours, with a focus on engaging audiences and increasing podcast downloads and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement social media content and marketing strategies to serve Northwestern Media's podcast network.
  • Create and schedule compelling, visually appealing social media graphics and other audio/video content to promote the podcasts.
  • Work alongside the Network Podcast Director, the Podcast Team, and podcast hosts to set social media goals and implement strategies to increase downloads and overall engagement.
  • Assemble and track social media analytics on a regular basis, including tracking the success of certain social media campaigns or initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Podcast Teams on tasks to help generate new enthusiasm and growth for the podcast network, including writing occasional web and email content for podcast network site and station sites.
  • Adhere to all brand standards, style guides, and best practices.
  • Complete any additional tasks related to podcast promotion.
  • Work within the parameters of all FERPA regulations and abide by all university policies.

Requirements

  • Current Communication, Marketing, or Business major in good standing.
  • Experience with social media platforms including emerging apps.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, courteous and tactful manner.
  • Excellent written communication skills; high attention to detail with ability to create, proof, and edit text accurately.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and complete multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Familiarity with popular web content management systems and service desk apps.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in at least one on-campus traditional course at UNW (including PSOC).
  • Ability to present valid documentation of employment eligibility prior to start date.
