About the Role

The Summer Associate will support the social media strategy and execution of brand campaigns, partnership and sponsorship programs, and community management within Navy Federal's Marketing and Communications department. This 12-week internship beginning in May 2026 offers students the opportunity to work on impactful projects, collaborate with internal and external teams, and gain experience in social media management, brand strategy, and digital media in a financial institution context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the social media strategy and execution of brand campaigns, partnership, and sponsorship programs.
  • Assist with community management and social engagement programs to encourage positive member and prospect interactions, user-generated content, and testimonials.
  • Participate in social media campaign planning and editorial calendar development.
  • Collect and analyze data on campaign performance and effectiveness, and assist in presenting insights and recommendations to executive leaders.
  • Support the implementation of social media strategies and campaigns to communicate the company's vision, mission, and values.
  • Assist with brand sponsorship and partnership event strategies and execution.
  • Help execute organic social content by gathering assets, uploading into Sprinklr, curating content from live events, and scheduling posts.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and monitor industry trends to identify opportunities or challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure brand alignment and support company goals.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure smooth campaign execution.
  • Explore community engagement opportunities and innovative ways to engage members and followers.
  • Provide operational support to the Social Media Team and manage small projects or assist with larger initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to governance policies for all social media platforms and rules of engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later.
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of social media channels including TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Pinterest, Reddit.
  • Understanding of social platform-specific best practices and trends.
  • Experience in developing and managing social media campaigns and related budgets.
  • Effective skills with social media management systems (SMMS).
  • Interest in financial institution communications, brand strategy, partnerships, sponsorships, and community management.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment.

  • Previous experience with social media campaigns for brands, student organizations, or internships.

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in relevant fields.
  • Expected graduation date of December 2026 or later.
