We are seeking a Technical Writer II to support one of our government clients in Columbia, MD, playing a key role in creating clear and effective technical documentation to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

Write, rewrite, and/or edit technical documents, such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications, to clearly and effectively communicate technical requirements and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, subject matter experts (SMEs), observing the performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
Oversee the preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts.
Conduct quality review of materials.
Translate complex data into user-friendly text for print and electronic publications, such as technical journals, user and training manuals, government proposals, websites, and podcasts.
Gather information through research, statistical reports, and interviews with technical staff.
Develop cataloging systems and maintain records, files, electronic media, and archives of information for publications.
Assist in preparing material for technical seminars and business forums.
May be called upon to assist in technical or business presentations at meetings as needed for business or customer requirements.
Select or recommend the use of layouts, graphics, drawings, tables, exhibits, illustrations, charts, or storyboards to amplify or clarify publication objectives.

Requirements

Career-level understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
Able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with general direction.
Able to determine and develop approaches to solutions without direction.
Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 5 - 7 years of experience, or a Master's degree and 3 to 5 years of experience.
