About the Role

The Temporary Digital Engagement Specialist at the University of Colorado Denver is responsible for creating, managing, and disseminating digital content to empower, engage, and inspire Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander students. This role involves collaborating across teams to implement strategies that highlight student success stories, promote program initiatives, and expand visibility through social media, digital marketing, and educational materials. The position emphasizes fostering an inclusive academic environment, supporting student retention, and contributing to the university's mission as an AANAPISI designated institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, curate, and manage engaging written, visual, and multimedia content (copy, photography, video) for the AANAPISI Program's digital platforms.
  • Build and update website pages, monitor website and social media analytics, and ensure content aligns with strategic goals and university branding.
  • Develop and maintain a publication schedule for social media and digital campaigns.
  • Collaborate on social media campaigns and day-to-day activities, including online advocacy, writing/proofing copy, image curation, and design.
  • Identify and purchase potential digital assets (photography/audio/video), maintaining an organized repository.
  • Engage with students, staff, and partners across platforms, responding thoughtfully to questions, comments, and feedback.
  • Monitor sentiment and reputation of the program through real-time engagement and regular reporting.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, webinars, and events for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Collect and analyze data to understand AA and NHPI student experiences, challenges, and achievements.
  • Create and analyze online forms, assist in program evaluation, and contribute insights for program improvement and grant proposals.
  • Track and analyze digital engagement, reporting on performance metrics to optimize strategies.
  • Craft clear educational and marketing materials to promote AANAPISI initiatives, student support services, and academic programs.
  • Ensure inclusive, accurate, and impactful communication in all materials produced.
  • Contribute to curriculum materials and participate in the preparation of scholarly articles.
  • Manage projects and deadlines independently and in collaboration with team members to meet program goals.
  • Proofread strategic documents and proposals.
  • Maintain records of project actions, deliverables, and learning for team knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, Digital Design, English, Film, Marketing, Public Relations, or similar field.
  • Strong written, verbal, and digital communication skills with proven accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills with experience in internet research, social media, and content performance analytics.
  • Experience with content creation, digital media, and project management in higher education and/or marketing contexts.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere/iMovie, Acrobat Pro), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), web content management systems (e.g., OmniUpdate), and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, TikTok).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple projects.
  • Assist in research activities, including data collection and analysis.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of higher education issues impacting AA and NHPI communities.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to write graduate-level research reports.
  • Prior experience leading social media or engagement campaigns within an agency, digital, or higher education environment.
  • Basic HTML and content management system editing skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Communication, Digital Design, English, Film, Marketing, Public Relations, or similar).
