About the Role

Position Summary... As a Distinguished Technical Program Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of retail customer care technology. This Director-level position is responsible for leading transformative, enterprise-scale programs while actively contributing to strategic decision-making and influencing the technical direction across multiple domains. You will partner closely with senior leadership, engineering, product, and operations to ensure our most complex programs deliver measurable impact and long-term value. Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, articulate, and execute multi-year roadmaps that align with Walmart's business and technology strategy. Influence business and technology direction and drive clear work prioritization.
  • Serve as a key thought partner to Engineering and Product leaders, guiding architecture and platform decisions for scalability, resilience, and innovation.
  • Lead end-to-end program delivery across business units, functions, and technology stacks, from ideation through execution and adoption.
  • Coordinate across global teams, aligning stakeholders, removing blockers, and ensuring execution matches strategic intent.
  • Drive adoption of lean and effective technical program management frameworks, tools, and metrics to enhance performance and predictability.
  • Coach and mentor program managers and engineers, fostering a high-performing team culture grounded in ownership, agility, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience leading large, complex technical programs with enterprise-level impact. Prior director-level experience a plus.
  • Proven ability to connect program execution to business strategy and influence investment priorities using data and practical frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, platform technologies, infrastructure, and engineering processes. Proven ability to identify technology risks, drive decisions, and influence technology direction. Experience working with AI/ML models, natural language processing, and related technologies.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to independently drive alignment at all levels.
  • Ability to lead through influence across diverse stakeholders including engineering, product, design, and operations.
  • Owner's mindset, with demonstrated ability to drive customer outcomes with a sense of urgency balanced with cultivation of strong, trust-based relationships.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Commitment to continuous learning, including pursuit of relevant certifications and staying current with emerging technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices.

Nice to Have

  • Certification in Project Management.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 5 years' experience in product design.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and supporting an inclusive culture.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 7 years' experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
  • Option 2: 9 years' experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
