About the Role

The position is for a Software Engineer III - ML Engineer at Walmart Global Tech. The role involves working within the Data Science team to build a platform of tools and services that facilitate high-performance computing, ML training, DevOps, model deployment, and metadata capture. The goal is to reduce AI/ML development and training cycle times, improve the quality of shipped AI/ML services, and simplify AI/ML engineering processes. The team provides deep computing expertise, automated workflows, production-grade infrastructure, and tooling to enable cutting-edge research and impactful solutions in the retail space. Key Responsibilities

Work with AI/ML and data science project teams to provide deep expertise in software engineering, parallel computing, and big data tools.
Help to guide the AI/ML Platform Engineering team's efforts based on first-hand experience on projects using our tools.
Work with partners in data platform, general computing, and similar teams to ensure the AI/ML organization has the data, computing resources, and workflows needed.
Be part of the team responsible for delivering an enterprise-grade AI-driven data and messaging platform.
Help run ML/AI infrastructure with tools like VertexAI, Element, and Kubernetes (k8s).
Design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
Help deliver metrics, monitoring, visualization, and alert tooling for deep visibility into service health.
Assist in protecting the health of the Production environment.
Work with QA/TestEng and SRE teams to make deployment processes efficient.
Implement technologies, policies, and practices to build a high-velocity, high-security, compliant platform supporting exponential growth.
Debug issues across environments, services, and tools.
Establish strong relationships with other teams to promote automation and reduce toil, and keep the team informed of upcoming initiatives.

Requirements

BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field.
Expertise in software development.
Expertise in CI/CD and DevOps practices.
Expertise in Kubernetes (k8s).
Hands-on experience in defining CI/CD pipelines for enterprises.
Experience deploying and maintaining high-volume APIs.
Experience in QA and SRE.

Nice to Have

Experience with and understanding of best practices in Machine Learning, software engineering, and production deployment of ML services.
Experience with Kubeflow, MLFlow, and MLOps practices.
Experience deploying applications in GCP and Azure.

Qualifications

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science.
